NOLANVILLE, Texas (KWTX) A house fire Thursday afternoon in Nolanville killed three pets and at least temporarily displaced a family of four.

The fire was reported just after 3 p.m. Thursday in the 200 block of Nolan Ridge by a police officer who was sent to the residence in response to a home security alarm.

The officer saw smoke coming from inside the house and felt heat through the front door.

Firefighters from the Central Bell County Fire Department doused the flames and rescued two dogs and a cat from inside the house, but were unable to revive the pets, which apparently died of smoke inhalation.

The cause is under investigation.
