Central Texas shooting suspect captured

BOSQUE COUNTY, Texas (KWTX) A shooting suspect for whom officers from several area agencies were searching in Hill County was in custody late Wednesday afternoon.

The shooting occurred earlier Wednesday afternoon in Bosque County, but following a chase through Hill County, the suspect ran after his vehicle crashed into a tree west of Blum.

He was caught as he emerged from a wooded area along the railroad tracks by 1104 Loop.

William Tharp, Jr., 32, was being taken to the Bosque County Jail, authorities said.

Deputies from Bosque and Hill County, Department of Public Safety troopers and a Texas Department of Parks and Wildlife K-9 unit were involved in the search, which was focused on private property near the Nolan River.

The shooting victim’s injuries were not believed to be life-threatening.
