WACO, Texas (KWTX) Just one day after learning he'll be the first coach to reach the College Football Playoff in his first season as an FBS head coach, Oklahoma head coach Lincoln Riley made a stop Monday in Central Texas to visit a local quarterback in the thick of Texas high school playoffs who’s committed to OU.

Riley stopped at Midway High School Monday to visit with Midway quarterback and OU commit Tanner Mordecai.

Mordecai, his parents and his Midway coach met with the OU coach to make sure everything was in place for signing day on Dec. 20.

Mordecai committed to the Sooners back in June.

The Midway senior led the Panthers to a 48-17 win over Mansfield Friday in the Class 6A Division II regional round game at McLane Stadium.

The Panthers will now face off against Southlake Saturday at McLane Stadium.

The No. 2 Sooners will play the No. 3 Georgia Bulldogs in the Rose Bowl Game on Jan. 1, as announced Sunday by the CFP selection committee.
