MCLENNAN COUNTY, Texas (KWTX) A teenager arrested in connection with the theft of an 18-wheeler and a pickup who was tracked down with the help of OnStar remained jailed Thursday.

Bonds total $6,000 for Tanner Kyle Engelbrecht, 17, who’s charged with unauthorized use of a motor vehicle and theft of a firearm.

He’s also held without bond on a Texas Juvenile Justice Department hold, according to online jail records.

He was arrested after series of events that started with the report of a disturbance just after 3 a.m. Wednesday in the China Spring area, where a girl said her boyfriend was outside in an 18-wheeler making a lot of noise and harassing her, authorities said.

Deputies spotted the teen in the 18-wheeler.

They pulled him over, but he jumped out and ran into a field, authorities said.

He later stole a 2014 GMC pickup truck, authorities said.

The truck was equipped with OnStar, however, which pinpointed the location of the pickup in Valley Mills.

Deputies found the truck at around 3 p.m. Wednesday in the area of Tweedy Road and North Lone Star Parkway and arrested Engelbrecht, authorities said.

The stolen trucks were returned to their owners, authorities said.
