TEMPLE, Texas (KWTX) - A Waco paramedic who was hit by a suspected drunken driver on Aug. 19 while on the scene of an accident remains in ICU after 8th Surgery.

The wife of 31 year old Rory Barros, an ETMC EMT says the latest surgery at Scott & White Medical Center in Temple was to continue to clean out deep wounds suffered in accident.

"His wound continues to heal...they removed another small portion of skin but his muscle continues to look super healthy," Amy Barros said.

"There is a very good chance they will try and start reconstruction surgery on his right knee on Thursday," his wife posted on her Facbook page.

"Next Monday will be a BIG day. We will begin using synthetic skin grafts to cover his wound."

"We may have to wait months before reconstructive surgery on leg."

Barros' kidneys also continue to improve.

Last week he was in partial renal failure.

"We received our benefit T-shirt today and I felt SO incredibly proud to wear it all day!! "In this family, NO ONE fights alone!!" she posted.
