BOSQUE COUNTY, Texas (KWTX) Charges were pending Monday after a pickup whose driver was attempting to make a left turn off of a Central Texas farm road struck and killed a motorcyclist.

The Texas Department of Public Safety Monday identified the victim as Brandon Cassidy Hightower, 40, of Blum.

He died at the scene of the accident, which occurred at around 3:40 p.m. Sunday at the intersection of FM 56 and County Road 1296 near Lakeside Village in Bosque County.

The 59-year-old Covington man who was driving the pickup was treated for minor injuries at the scene, DPS Sgt. D.L. Wilson said Monday.

Hightower was riding north on FM 56 when the Ford F-150 pickup, which was towing a trailer, struck him as the driver attempted to turn onto CR 1296, Wilson said.

The force of the collision knocked the motorcycle into a 1985 Chevrolet pickup that someone abandoned on the northbound shoulder.

The driver of the pickup failed to yield right of way, he said.

“DPS is investigating crash and appropriate charges will be filed at a later date,” he said.
