(KWTX) A rare August rainstorm Wednesday was a factor in a rash of traffic accidents in Central Texas.

Wednesday morning, an SUV hydroplaned on State Highway 6 just past the Speegleville exit north of Waco.

The SUV slid off the highway, overturned and came to rest on its roof on the frontage road.

The driver, who was the only person in the vehicle, escaped injury.

Highway 6 traffic wasn't affected.

Officers throughout the region were responding to accidents in which wet roads were a factor Wednesday.

Showers and thunderstorms are likely throughout the day and heavy rain is possible.

Rain chances taper off overnight, but there’s a slight chance of showers Thursday.
