Restaurant Report Card for week of July 6

(KWTX) The Burger King off I-35 near Baylor in Waco fails their inspection with a 66.

They had salad past the use by date, food was left uncovered with squirt bottles of sauce in the walk-in cooler, containers were stored with old food residue still on them and there was no thermometer in the reach in freezer where they keep burger patties.

A week later they corrected all of the problems.

For the third time Sol Del Jalisco on Main Street in Belton is on the report card.

This time they scored an 86.

The inspector found a buildup of mildew on the soda machine and said their soda spigots need to be cleaned.

They also found food and rust on the racks of their walk-in cooler, with uncovered food sitting below.

Improper temperatures and containers not labeled round out the violations they need to correct.

Don Carlos Mexican restaurant in Waco makes an 89.

They lost points for several small violations like fixing a door of the prep table, cleaning the vent hood, having chipped plates and no hand wash sign above a sink.

None of the violations involved food.

This week's Clean Plate Award goes to Raising Cane's on Hewitt Drive in Waco.

The restaurant is named after a dog, but its bark is definitely not louder than its bite.
