Salado businesses still recovering after I-35 construction sways customers away

SALADO, Texas (KWTX) It’s been several months since road construction along I-35 near Salado wrapped up.

But how well have business recovered after being hit hard by construction woes?

That answer will vary depending on who you ask.

KWTX checked in on several businesses who say they didn’t see a difference in sales.

However, a few of the newer one say they were hit hard and are struggling to pull in customers

Despite this, The Texas Comptroller’s Office reports business is booming in the village.

Salado saw an increase of almost nine percent in sales tax revenue during the 2017 Christmas holiday season when compared to 2016.

Salado's chamber of commerce Mary ford says she plans on helping the struggling business attract more customers.

"I want to meet with everybody and get their ideas if they're having troubles. I want to help them and figure out what we need for them to be successful", Ford said.

Ford says this year she will focus on helping businesses advertise through social media.
