SAN SABA, Texas (KWTX) Authorities Monday identified a teenager who drowned over the weekend at Mill Pond Park in San Saba as Justin Germer, 18.

First responders were dispatched to the park just after 3 p.m. Sunday after receiving a report that Germer entered the water, went under and didn’t resurface.

Searchers later recovered his body and the teenager was pronounced dead at 5:10 p.m.

A preliminary investigation determined that the teenager didn’t know how to swim, the San Saba County Sheriff's Office said Monday.

Signs are posted at the park advising that visitors who decide to swim in the lake do so at their own risk and that there is no lifeguard on duty.

The Texas Parks & Wildlife Department is assisting in the investigation of the incident.
