Dickson hasn't let muscular dystrophy stop her from making an impact by creating two endowed scholarships to Southwestern University and Baylor University law students after graduating from both schools.

State Rep. Hugh Shine, R-Temple, presented Dickson with a state resolution recognizing her community outreach efforts at the Wildflower Country Club in Temple Friday afternoon.

"The resolution was inspired strictly by her life and we wanted to do something special for Allison because she is such a special person,” Shine said.

She is now working on a new scholarship for prospective Temple college students graduating from Temple high school.

“I really believe that by my actions and by my positivity I can encourage people and let them know that anything is possible,” Dickson said.

She hopes to raise $25,000 to present the scholarship in May 2018.
