AUSTIN, Texas (KWTX) Texas Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick is asking the Texas Rangers to investigate the theft of the jersey worn by Patriots quarterback Tom Brady during Sunday’s Super Bowl.

The jersey was stolen from the New England locker room Sunday night at NRG Stadium in Houston, Patrick said.

"Tom Brady's jersey has great historical value and is already being called 'the most valuable NFL collectable ever,' Patrick said.

“It will likely go into the Hall of Fame one day. It is important that history does not record that it was stolen in Texas.”

Brady joked Monday that he expects to find the jersey on an online auction site.

"We have been looking into this disappointing matter and will continue to assist law enforcement authorities," NFL spokesman Brian McCarthy said Monday.

Brady led the Patriots on a fourth quarter rally that led to a first-ever Super Bowl overtime.

The Patriots defeated the Atlanta Falcons 34-28, giving Brady a record five Super Bowl wins.
