WACO, Texas (KWTX) A 4-year-old boy was seriously injured and his mother was also hurt in a traffic crash and a man was struck by a vehicle just blocks away.
Waco police were sent at about 8:30 p.m. Thursday to the intersection of South 18th Street and Webster Avenue after a caller reported a crash.
It wasn’t immediately known how many vehicles were involved.
The woman who was driving was unconscious when first responders arrived but was quickly revived.
A 4-year-old boy in the car had what officials at the scene called life-threatening head injuries.
Both were taken by ambulance to Baylor Scott & White Hillcrest Medical Center, where shortly later the child was transferred to McLane’s Children’s Hospital in Temple.
Information about the child's s condition was not available Friday morning.
Police said either the child was not restrained or was improperly restrained and there was no booster seat in the vehicle.
In a second accident a man was struck by a vehicle at South 11th Street and Clay Avenue.
Police, fire and EMS units were sent at about 11:30 p.m. Thursday to the south Waco intersection where they found a 36-year-old man lying in the street.
Police at the scene said the victim had been struck by at least one vehicle, which then left the scene.
The injured man was taken by ambulance to Baylor Scott & White Hillcrest Medical Center for treatment of a broken leg.
Police were asking that anyone with information about the crash call the department.
