Two local stores robbed at gunpoint early Monday

KILLEEN, Texas (KWTX) Police are trying to determine whether the same man was responsible for two early-morning holdups Monday at convenience stores in Killeen.

The Valero store at 1000 West Stan Schleuter Loop and South State Highway 195 was robbed just after 4 a.m. Monday.

Police say that a light-skinned black man wearing a red hooded sweatshirt and gray sweatpants entered the store with a gun, demanded money, and fled on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash.

About three hours later, just before 7 a.m., a black man wearing a red hooded sweatshirt robbed the Star Mart gas station just down the street at 1310 West Stan Schleuter Loop.

He entered the store, produced a gun, demanded money and escaped on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash.

Monday afternoon, authorities released a surveillance camera image, which shows the robbery pointing a handgun at the store clerk.

No injuries were reported in either robbery.
