Waco: Vendors say home show is about more than sales

WACO, Texas (KWTX) As The Heart of Texas Builders Association's Home Show came to a close on Sunday afternoon, vendors begin to speak about the benefits of participating in the 26th annual show.

Extraco Event Center was filled with vendors, products, and services to renovate and beautify homes, but if you ask some of the vendors in attendance, they will tell you the weekend was bigger than just making sales.

"Right now we're doing well and so you learn what they're doing and how they are succeeding and you learn stories of how they have done well and it helps everybody else,”said Butch Mogeravo, the owner of Bolder Designs.

Mogavero has attended the home show for 15 years and says it's one of the reasons he has been successful, an opinion other vendors also share.

"Many of these companies here are local businesses and so ultimately when you are helping out these local businesses you are helping Waco," said Anthony Hernandez," a representative for Custom Integrators.

Many of the vendors don't use traditional forms advertising and for some businesses, the event serves as a direct marketing and networking event.

"The biggest thing is a lot of people don't know we exist unless we come to the home show," stated Mogeravo.

Home show director, Jim Bland says every year the number of exhibitors increases, the show has outgrown the venue.

"Right now we're in a situation where we sell out this complex every year and we don't have room to expand right now," stated Bland.

Vendors say it's not a bad problem to have and look forward to attending for many years to come.
