Veterans One Stop breaks ground on transitional veterans home

The Veterans One Stop has broken ground on a new transitional home for military families.

WACO, Texas (KWTX) A new project by the Veterans One Stop in Waco is about to change the lives of military families.

Crews broke ground on a new transitional home Friday as part of Operation Forward March.

It's located at 1210 Merganser Way in Waco.

A military family will be allowed to move into the home temporarily, followed by another and another.

The transitional home will allow families to learn home ownership skills while providing them with a place to stay.

DeLisa Russell with the One Stop said, "this is a transition home that we'll be bringing in a veteran that has a family, putting them into this home. They'll stay there from six to nine months. We'll wrap all the services of the Veterans One Stop around them."

A generous member of the military who doesn't want any special recognition has donated funding for the project.

The Children's Mission Network will provide ongoing funding and support for the house.

And Stylecraft Builders is doing the construction.

Russell thanks them for their support and generosity.

Families will pay a small amount of money and applications will be accepted closer to the completion date.

It should be done before Christmas.
