WACO, Texas (KWTX) Baylor University Thursday announced a more than $1 million gift to its department of geosciences.
The donation will be used to provide undergraduate and graduate students will opportunities to conduct research under the guidance of faculty members, the university said.
The donors, who are parents of a current student, asked to remain anonymous, the school said.
The donation includes an endowment for undergraduate geology studies, an endowment for graduate research and an endowed fund whose proceeds will pay for such equipment as hammers and chisels.
“Baylor University is deeply grateful to these generous and forward-looking philanthropists for making a gift that strengthens our institutional commitment to using research and scholarship as tools for education,” said interim President David E. Garland.
“Baylor parents such as these who demonstrate their belief in our mission are invaluable partners to the University.”
