WACO, Texas (KWTX) A Waco man was sentenced to life in prison Monday after he earlier pleaded guilty in two separate cases, each one involving several counts of sexual activity with children.

Judge Ralph Strother, in 19th District Court, on Monday sentenced Roque Alfonso Gonzales, 49, to three life sentences in connection with three counts of aggravated sexual assault of a child, and two more 20-year sentences of 20-years each on counts of indecency with a child, court records showed.

Then in the second case, Strother sentenced Gonzales to five 20-year sentences, to be served concurrently with each other, but ordered that sentence be served before the life sentence begins.

Documents presented during Gonzales’ plea hearing show he first was arrested in connection with the sexual assault of a then-17-year-old girl and ultimately was indicted for two counts of sexual assault of a child and three counts of indecency with a child by contact.

A second victim came forward subsequent to the initial indictment and reported she, too, had been sexually assaulted by Gonzales when she was 14-years-old.

Investigation brought a second indictment charging him with two counts of aggravated sexual assault of a child and three counts of indecency with a child by contact.

The indictments show the incidents date back to 2010.

Strother gave him 850 days credit for time already served in county jail, where he was sent to await transfer to state custody.
