2-A-DAYS: Academy looking for improvement

ACADEMY, Texas The Academy football team was a young team in 2016. Most of the roster is back this year and the Bumblebees hope to be better.

Academy won three non-district games last season but only once in their district. That's where they want to improve this coming season, but it won't be easy against one of the toughest districts in the state at any level.

Academy has size up front and a lot of those guys have experience. That makes their offensive and defensive lines a strength. They also return one of the state's top tacklers from last season at linebacker.

Mike Nichols says his players know they're the underdog in their district but he thinks they are good enough to challenge for a playoff spot.
