Baylor's K.J. Smith denied a sixth year of eligibility

The Baylor Football Team will not have one of their most dynamic defenders back next year.

The NCAA denied the BU defensive lineman's appeal for a sixth year of eligibility. Smith was hoping to receive a medical redshirt for last season after missing all but the first game of the season with shin splints.

In 2016, Smith emerged as one of Baylor's strongest defenders and was named to the All-Big 12 First Team by the Leagues coaches.
