Chiefs letting Derrick Johnson become a free agent

KANSAS CITY, Missouri The Kansas City Chiefs are not going to re-sign linebacker Derrick Johnson making the Waco native a free agent.

Johnson is now 35 years old and he's played his entire 13-year NFL career in Kansas City for the Chiefs. Johnson has been outstanding during that time, four times being named to the Pro Bowl.

This past season Johnson saw his playing time diminish and by the end of the season he was playing only about 70% of snaps for the Chiefs' defense.

Johnson played at Waco High School then for the University of Texas.
