Classroom Champions: Lorena's Carly Campbell

Lorena High School's Carly Campbell says one of the coolest things about being a pole vaulter wasn't just qualifying for state during her freshman year, but doing so along with her brother.

The future University of Texas student is this week's Classroom Champion, sporting a class rank of No. 4, along with her ability to be an approachable teammate on the basketball and track & field teams.

"People matter to her. Her teammates matter to her, her friends matter to her, her PALs matter, so that's a big deal," said her coach Rodney Gee.

Campbell is also a member of the National Honor Society and Peer Assisted Learning (PALs).

Ever since middle school, like fifth grade, I've always made sure I made As. I study a lot," said Campbell
