MART, Texas (KWTX) Karleigh Gooden has come a long way since suffering a torn ACL, which she says was one of the tougher things she's endured. After missing the entire 2017 softball season, she'll eventually return to the circle to pitch for the Lady Panthers.
For now, the future physical therapist will occupy first base for Mart.
"I try to keep a positive mindset no matter what happens to me," Gooden said. "I try to think about the best situation possible and move forward and try to grow from what happens."
The Gooden family bleeds Panther purple and gold; her father, mother and sister all attended Mart.
Karleigh also does a lot of volunteer work with her church, and is a member of the Student Activities Government and National Honor Society.
"She's involved with basketball, volleyball, softball, cheerleading, (and) one-act play," Mart softball coach Stephen Burrow said. "She does a lot of things in UIL competition. To get all that in, and excel in the classroom, that's a credit to her family."
