Crawford falls to Refugio on late field goal

Arlington, Tx The Crawford Pirates came up just short in their bid to win a state championship, falling to Refugio 23-20 after the Bobcats kicked a field goal with eight seconds left in the game.

The Pirates and Refugio traded blows throughout the game, with Crawford answering every Refugio score. Each team scored one touchdown in the 4th quarter and the game was tied at 20 when Refugio began its last drive.
The Bobcats would eventually get deep into Crawford territory and in the final seconds they kicked what turned out to be a game winning field goal.

Crawford finishes the year 14-2 overall, coming up just short against a perennial power.
