WACO, Texas Baylor quarterback Zach Smith is transferring out of the program after his sophomore season.
Smith has seen significant playing time in his two years at Baylor. He took over for Seth Russell after he was injured during Smith's freshman season. Smith started the last few games of Big 12 play then led Baylor to a Cactus Bowl win over Boise State.
This season as a sophomore, Smith became the starter in week 3 at Duke and held that spot until he was injured in the middle of Big 12 play. Freshman Charlie Brewer took over and as Smith tried to get healthy, Brewer flourished.
So, Smith has decided to transfer and finish his college career elsewhere. He joins tailback Terence Williams who has also decided to leave the Baylor program since the end of the season.
With Smith's departure, Baylor now has just one scholarship quarterback on the roster. They have targeted at least one in their recruiting this fall.
