GATESVILLE (November 3, 2009)--The prosecution was examining a final witness just before noon Tuesday in the trial of a former Copperas Cove Fire Department paramedic charged with official oppression for what a patient says was improper contact with her.
Kasey S. Calvery, a former paramedic with the Copperas Cove Fire Department, is being tried in 52nd State District Court, in Gatesville, on the misdemeanor charge.
A quirk in state law requires an official oppression charge - unlike other misdemeanors - be indicted and tried in district court.
The prosecution, led by Coryell County District Attorney David Castillo, contends Calvery exposed and then improperly touched an 18-year-old accident victim's breasts while pretending to tend to her injuries.
Calvery was arrested in February.
Attorneys Sam Bassett, of Houston, and Allen D. Place, of Gatesville, are defending him.
Calvery was charged with misdemeanor official oppression after an investigation into the 18-year-old woman's claims she was fondled as she was transported by ambulance.
The case is being heard by a six-person jury before District Judge Trent Farrell.

FF Wife: You better hope its never your 18 year old daughter that gets in an ambulance with him. You know he confessed to the incident, thats why he lost his job.
Trial over. He was found innocent. Hope he sues the city to collect his attorney costs, loss of income and humiliation.
You don't even know Kasey, for all you know the girl could be lying to get money out of it!!
