Everyone keeps calling him a "fellow brother in arms". He is, nor ever was a fellow brother to our troops. He needs to be called for what he is. Whether or not he belonged to a "real" terrorist org. or not he is still a terrorist. I don't know why he did what he did. Whatever the reason, he was wrong. He does not deserve the right to be called a "brother" of any of our true American heros. May God bless and comfort those who were touched by this terrorist act.

Anyone who walks into a room and opens fire on people is a terrorist. It don't matter what his religion is. He struck fear into the hearts of people and that's what a terrorist does. I don't believe that this was a spur of the moment thing, I believe that this was well thought out in advance. That he knew exactly what he was doing,and where to go to inflict the most damage.

they don't don't do ANY checks !!! i worked at Darnall for over a year and got a call from the "SECURITY OFFICE" to come and RE-DO my background paperwork because they had LOST it or it was NEVER processed !!!! ha ha ha , what TIGHT security !!!! background checks should be done BEFORE they let you step foot IN THE COMPOUND !!!!

I think that this shooting spree was a wake up call since they don't do psychological evaluations on soldiers before heading to Iraq or Afghanistan and do back ground checks on those officers that are middle eastern descendants it has to be enforced regardless of their cultural background we are training our own enemy!

Let me start by saying that I am so full of anger, frustration, sadness, hopelessness, and so many more emotions at this point that I am not sure how this is going to turn out. Here is a little background I have lived in the immediate Ft Hood area for most of my life. My father retired from the military here. My husband is now retired from the military here. We just moved off post at the beginning of this year. Imagine my shock seeing national media in front of the "welcome to the great place" sign I pass almost everyday. Now to the real reason I am writing. Major Nadal Husan. The man worked at the very clinic that misdiagnosed my husband. After one and a half tours to Iraq this clinic determined that my husband suffered from a preexisting personality disorder. Mind you my husband had no mental health problems before the tours to Iraq. This is a sad day in American history, Point 1: This was planned ahead of time. A man does not go on a killing spree without thinking about it. Point 2: He did not want to serve his country. He said he would serve in Afghaninstan over Iraq? Are there not Muslims in both countries. Point 3: He didn't want to go to war. Was this because he did not want to face Muslims or was he afraid of being injured or dying? Probably because he did not want to oppose the same fanactics he supports. Apparently it wasn't because he was afraid of being injured or dying. There is no insanity issue here. He needs to be dealt with accordingly.

@Yeah, I believe that words much like yours were uttered in the 1940's by a person who felt he was superior to a certain ethnicity/religious group, then exterminated millions of innocent people. The hatred you sputter is not representative of Christians or of anything that Christ taught. If your definition of being a God fearing Christian is that we exhibit hatred to those who have differing belief systems I would suggest you open your bible and read. God made us all in his imagine and who are you to judge God. My God is not a hateful God, nor does he discriminate. I know not of the God you follow who would promote such hatred. This was an action taken by a single person, not a religion, and not an ethnic group. This man should be judged by his actions alone. His faith, his family, his ethnic background should be left out of the equation. Before you decide to call me a pacifist or liberal know that I am far from either, but I AM a Christian.

@Bubba, you are right that when we elect the wrong people bad things happen, such as going into a country that wasn't a threat, putting our soldiers, loved ones in danger. Maybe you would like to be in charge of determining who is competent and who is not. You obviously are qualified and have an unique insight as to what drives a person to commit acts of violence. Regarding your comment as to being afraid to say what needs to be said, I do not fall into that catagory. It is ideology such as yours and others that have posted, which is filled with hatred and bigotry, that is the true problem our country suffers from, and will be the down fall long before others who chose to see each individual for who they are, not their skin color, or religious affiliation. This is not the 1960's. It's sad that many have not realized this.

WAKE-UP -- Ironic at the level of intensity your post is advocating intolerance and repudiating another ethnic group/religious group. Very similar to the intensity that moves radical muslim fundamentalist to lead creedance to thier heinous acts. One can not solve problems in the same atmosphere that they are created in. Safe our country? How bout saving yourself. Get on your knees and start living the American motto "In GOD we trust." May heavenly father comfort the families that have lost a loved ones.

I think we all tiptoe around the obvious and everyone is too scared to say what they really think and feel. How much longer is this going to go on? My prayers go out to the families of all of those wounded or killed. How sad this is. I read where he gave food to a neighbor-he must have planned this and thought it out and knew he wasn't going to come back. I hope patients who counseled with him can shed some light on what they thought of this man. I also heard his cousin call him a good American. Really? Sorry but I hope finally we realize a lot of things going on here. If he planned it, was it a terrorist attack from one person? When you join the military, aren't you told you may go into harm's way if that is the case, why did he take the job and not do what all the others did and have to do?
