Heavy Rain Produces Widespread Flooding In Central Texas
More rain fell Thursday in Central Texas than on any January day since weather records have been kept, and the runoff was producing widespread flooding Friday.

(JANUARY 29, 2010)—Flood warnings, advisories and watches were in effect Friday morning throughout Central Texas as runoff from record-setting rainfall pushed streams and creeks out of their banks.

An urban and small stream flood advisory was in effect Friday morning for eastern Bosque County, Hill county, northwestern Limestone County, McLennan County and western Navarro County.

A flood warning was in effect for the Middle Bosque River near McGregor west of Waco until Friday afternoon, where minor flooding is expected.

A flood warning for urban areas and small streams was in effect through the morning for Coryell County, including Gatesville and Copperas Cove.

Numerous road closures were reported throughout the county as rain continued to fall Friday morning.

A flood warning was in effect for Cowhouse Creek near Pidcoke in Coryell County and for the Little River near Little River in Bell County.

A flood warning was also in effect Friday morning for the North Bosque River near Clifton in Bosque County.

The river was almost two feet above flood stage Friday morning and minor flooding was occurring.

Moderate flooding was reported along the Navasota River above Groesbeck in Limestone County, and a flood warning was in effect there until late Saturday night.
