PLANO, Texas (AP) Police Tuesday identified the eight people who were killed in a shooting Sunday at a home in Plano, one of whom was from Waco.

The gunman, identified Tuesday as Spencer James Hight, 32, of Plano, was shot to death by officers who responded to the home.

Killed in the shooting were Hight’s estranged wife, Meredith Emily Hight,27, Anthony Michael Cross, 33, Olivia Nicole Deffner, 24, James Richard Dunlop, 29, Darryl William Hawkins, 22, Rio Christopher Morgan, 31, Myah Sadie Bass, 28, and Caleb Seth Edwards, 25.

Anthony Cross was from Waco.

Police have not released the name of a ninth person who was wounded in the shooting, but survived.

Meredith Hight owned the home where the victims had gathered to watch football games Sunday.

Her mother, Debbie Lane, said her daughter, a native of Georgia, was hosting a party to watch the games, starting with the Atlanta Falcons vs. the Chicago Bears and continuing with the Giants-Cowboys game.

A woman who lives nearby says she saw people laughing and grilling outside earlier in the day.

Stacey Glover told The Dallas Morning News the party started early Sunday afternoon.

Then, she says, she heard shots around 8 p.m.

She opened her door and smelled gunpowder.

She heard police who arrived yell "hands up" before more shots rang out.

Plano police spokesman David Tilley said police responded to a report of shots fired.

The first officer who arrived confronted the suspected shooter.

Tilley says the officer opened fire, killing the suspect.

Neighbor Lauryn Nichols said she had a friend who'd been in the house and she didn't know what had happened to the person.
