Temple: Pilot makes emergency landing in field near airport

TEMPLE, Texas (KWTX) A pilot who made an emergency landing Thursday morning in a field near Draughon–Miller Central Texas Regional Airport in Temple escaped serious injury, authorities say.

The pilot and a passenger in the plane were taken to a local hospital for treatment of minor injuries, Federal Aviation Administration spokesman Lynn Lunsford said.

The pilot reported engine problems before the landing.

The single-engine Lancair touched down at around 11 a.m. in a field near the intersection of Highway 317 and FM 1237 a mile northeast of the airport, Temple Fire & Rescue spokesman Thomas Pechal said.
