Zane Williams had played in Waco many times, and even at the Extraco Event Center, but never during the HOT Fair & Rodeo, until Wednesday.

The singer-songwriter said he was excited to be playing for a city where his fan base had been growing in recent years.

Williams is an independent artist, known for having hits played on Texas country radio like "Overnight success," "99 Bottles," and "Jayton and Jill."

He's also the man behind the song "While I Was Away," recorded Pat Green in 2015.

The Huser Brothers opened for Williams on the fair's main stage Wednesday night.

The set list included his fan favorites, plus several 90s country covers.

Williams, who lives in McKinney, said he wished his wife and kids could have been there to join him at the HOT Fair & Rodeo, but they were unable to make it.
