WACO, Texas (KWTX) A Kansas church known for igniting national controversy plans to protest outside two Waco churches Sunday morning.

Westboro Baptist Church, known for anti-gay protests across the United States, plans on picketing outside Antioch Community Church and St. Louis Catholic church on Sunday.

The protest outside Antioch will start at 10:15 a.m. while the one outside St. Louis Catholic will start at 11:00 a.m.

WBC has previously picketed LGBT events such as pride marches in addition to funerals for veterans, claiming the soldiers who died in battle were killed for serving a country that has shunned God.

In a press release, WBC says Waco area churches are "ashamed of the Gospel" and have strayed from the teachings of the Bible.

WBC was founded in 1955 by Fred Phelps Sr. in Topeka, Kansas. Since his death in 2014, his family has continued to run the church.
