(April 7, 2008)—Kathie Lee Gifford returned to morning TV Monday, laughing and nearly crying on her first day as co-host of the fourth hour of NBC’s “Today” show.
She laughed when she mistook one of her welcoming gifts from her co-host, Hoda Kotb.
Gifford looked confused when she saw what she thought was a bottle of olive oil in the basket, but Kotb told her it was tequila and said "honey, you're probably gonna need this."
Gifford talked about her personal life, put on one of her husband Frank's old football helmets and mentioned how she lost an audition for "Charlie's Angels" and that she got kicked out of America's Junior Miss pageant for talking to a boy.
She nearly cried when Harvey Fierstein ended the hour by singing a song for her.
