(April 17, 2008)--Jane's Addiction will have its first reunion in 17 years, but only for one night.

Bassist Eric Avery has agreed to join his former band mates for a performance at the first U.S. NME Awards in Los Angeles next Wednesday.

They’ll be given the Godlike Genius Award. Avery declines all other offers to play with the band again and is focusing on a solo career, with the release of his debut album "Help Wanted" last week.

Avery says he considers reunions to be a way to make a quick buck.

He says the reason he agreed to this event is because "it's honoring the past instead of trying to recreate it."
