(May 16, 2008)—“CSI New York” actor Gary Sinise and the Lieutenant Dan Band rocked the normally quiet Pentagon for more than an hour, as part of Military Appreciation Month.

The band, named after Sinise's character in "Forrest Gump," played mostly covers of rock and funk classics like "Purple Haze" and "Superstition," and the crowd stood and cheered as the band ended the show with "God Bless the USA."

Sinise and his band have played at dozens of military bases around the world the past few years.

He told service members and their families it's vitally important for them to know Americans appreciate them.
