(June 18, 2008)--Barenaked Ladies singer Steven Page says it was a joy making their new children's album, "Snacktime," because the band didn't have to agonize over guitar solos.
Page says kids don't care whether it has a solo, or if it sounds too much like another band, or how long the song is.
He says "Humpty Dumpty," for example, is a short nursery rhyme and kids memorize it and chant along.
Page says kids love music that makes them want to dance and doesn't treat them like they're stupid.
He says the band has been exploring childlike innocence since the first Barenaked Ladies album.
"Snacktime" and its companion book of the same name are in stores now.
