(June 26, 2008)--Rap-rock star Kid Rock now says he was just kidding when he went on YouTube to urge his fans to "steal everything."
He said in the video that he's so rich, he can't beef if fans swiped a song or two of his off the Internet without him getting paid, but while they're at it, he said people should 'level the playing field" by stealing what they want from rich corporations, such as laptops, iPods and designer threads.
Now, however, he says that was all a big joke.
He told The Associated Press he was "just trying to have some fun."
He's having "fun" this week in a way that's not as likely to lead to accessory charges.
He played Wednesday at a pro-am golf tournament in Detroit.

Perhaps Kid Rock is looking to become Kid Robin Hood? I'll give him the benefit of the doubt that he was only kidding. Perhaps a better option would be to honor the 8th Commandment.
