(July 1, 2008)--Singer Boy George has been denied a visa and his American tour has been canceled.
The U.S. State Department refused Boy George's visa because he is awaiting trial for allegedly imprisoning a man at his London home.
He has pleaded not guilty.
Boy George says in a statement he was hoping "some kind soul at the U.S. Visa Office" would realize that if the British police had no restrictions on his movement, it should be good enough for
American authorities.
He says he realizes the Visa Office is "doing a very difficult job" and that he "just got unlucky."
He plans to reschedule the tour for next winter.
