(July 14, 2008)—Singer Roger Daltrey says he's enjoyed "a life of absolute privilege and wonder."

Guitarist Pete Townshend, meanwhile, just wants to get back to his desk.

The Who were celebrated at the third "VH1 Rock Honors" in Los Angeles on Saturday.

Flaming Lips, Foo Fighters, Incubus, Pearl Jam and Tenacious D were among the acts that paid tribute to The Who.

Daltrey says when he and Townshend start playing their old music, the late John Entwistle and Keith Moon "echo with us all the time.

It's kind of like they never left."

Townshend said it was a nice honor but it meant he had to tear himself from his writing to be there.

"The little of bit of me that writes is kind of going, get rid of all these people and give me back my pencil!" he said.

"VH1 Rock Honors" featuring The Who airs Thursday.
