(September 5, 2008)—U2 won’t be releasing its new album until the beginning of 2009 at the earliest.
Bono told U2.com they've "hit a rich songwriting vein" and they don't want to stop.
"It gets a bit dark down here but looks like we've found diamonds, not coal,” he said.
He said there's no point in leaving that if there's "more priceless stuff to be found." U2 have been recording in the south of France and in Dublin and have 50 or 60 tracks.
They also recorded in a studio in Morocco that opens to the sky, and Bono says one track picked up the sound of a nest full of swallows.
