Scorched Hendrix Guitar Sells For Nearly $500,000
A guitar torched by virtuoso Jimi Hendrix during a 1967 performance has sold at auction for nearly $500,000.

(September 5, 2008)—A guitar torched by virtuoso Jimi Hendrix during a 1967 performance has sold at auction for $497,500.
The scorched Fender Stratocaster was sold at auction in London to Daniel Boucher of Boylston, Mass., who traveled to Britain specifically for the sale.
He says he's going to play it and he hopes some of it rubs off on him
Boucher says he expected to pay more for it.
The pre -sale estimate was $900,000.
Hendrix burned the guitar during a show in London in March 1967, and then burned a different one at the Monterey Pop Festival.

Elvis' fingerprints sold at that same auction for $81,740.
They were part of his application to the State of California for a concealed-gun permit.
