(October 15, 2008)--Madonna and husband Guy Ritchie confirm that they're divorcing after nearly eight years of marriage.
The singer and the British director have two children, Rocco, 8, and David Banda, 3, who was adopted from Malawi in 2006.
Madonna also has a 12-year-old daughter from a previous relationship.
A financial settlement and custody issues still need to be worked out.
The couple is reportedly worth some $525 million, most of it from Madonna.
They’re asking the media to respect the family "at this difficult time."
Madonna is scheduled to perform concerts Wednesday night and Thursday in Boston as part of her "Sticky and Sweet" tour.
Ritchie's latest movie, "RocknRolla," was released recently.
