(October 19, 2008)--Former "Soul Train" host Don Cornelius has been arrested on suspicion of domestic violence in Los Angeles.

Police say officers were called to his Hollywood Hills home late Friday after someone reported a domestic dispute.

Police say the 72-year-old producer was taken to jail, where he was booked for investigation of felony domestic violence.

He was released on $50,000 bail and ordered to appear in court next month.

A police spokesman says he doesn't know whom Cornelius is suspected of assaulting.

Cornelius started "Soul Train" in 1970 to showcase black music and culture.

He stepped down in 1993.
