The Hill College Choral program will present a fall concert of ballades on Thurs., Nov. 20, at 7:30 p.m. in the Vara Martin Daniel Performing Arts Center on the Hillsboro Campus.
The Hill College Chorale will perform “3 Spanish Ballades” as well as the “Ballad of Sweeney Todd” and the “Pink Panther.” The Vocal Ensemble will sing several ballades including the famous “Summertime”
and “Danny Boy.”
Two new ensembles this year that will be performing several selections are the Hill College Women’s and Men’s Choirs. The Women’s choir will perform “Two Renaissance Chorals” and some selections from the musical “Wicked,” and the Hill College Men’s Choir will perform a soulful selection from the musical “The Civil War: An American Musical” and “Make me a Kite.
The choirs will be accompanied by two talented pianists, Paul Luyinda, a Hill College and UT Arlington graduate, and Larry McCord, Hill College faculty member.
Also, Adrian Bumgarner, a Hill College flute student, will accompany the Men’s Chorus. All choirs are under the direction of Shirley Erickson, Hill College’s instructor of music and director of choral and keyboard activities.
