(December 15, 2008)--New York Gov. David Paterson says he's not laughing after a "Saturday Night Live" skit portrayed the legally-blind leader as a bumbler.
Paterson's office says the skit ridiculed people with physical disabilities and implied that they are incapable of taking on serious responsibilities.
Paterson’s spokesman Errol Cockfield issued a statement saying Patterson "is sure that 'Saturday Night Live,' with all of its talent, can find a way to be funny without being offensive."
The skit featured SNL cast member Fred Armisen as Paterson, who must appoint someone to replace Sen. Hillary Clinton.
As part of the skit, Armisen held up a chart upside down.
National Federation of the Blind spokesman Chris Danielsen says the SNL portrayal is "absolutely wrong."
