NEW YORK (February 26, 2009)—Blues legend Taj Mahal has been tabbed for the Blues Hall of Fame.
He was picked for the honor, along with New Orleans soul singer Irma Thomas.
Also to be inducted are Chicago-based bluesman Son Seals and Gary Davis, the ragtime guitar player.
Taj Mahal says he's "very happy" that a group of his peers think it's something he deserves after all the years he put into his music.
The Blues Hall is in Memphis, Tenn.
The induction ceremony is set for May 6 and the following day, the Blues Foundation 30th annual Blues Music Awards will be held.
