Belton, Texas – University of Mary Hardin-Baylor voice students will present SCHUBERTIAD! The College of Visual and Performing Arts will present a SCHUBERTIAD on Tuesday, March 24, at 7:30 p.m. in Manning Chapel in the Meyer Christian Studies Center on campus.

A Schubertiad is a traditional evening of the songs of Franz Schubert presented in a chamber music setting. It was a custom in Schubert’s lifetime for friends to gather in someone’s home for an evening of music and fellowship. During the evening Schubert would play and someone would sing his songs. The voice studios of Dr. Guy Wilson, George Hogan, Lisa Clement, and Penny Hogan are reviving this tradition on March 24 and invite all friends of art and music to come and enjoy the evening.

Some of the selections will include Alinde, An Die Laute, Kriegers Ahnung, Gretchen Am Spinnrade, An Die Musik, Ave Maria, Du Bist Die Ruh,Ganymed and Fruehlings Glaube.

Accompanists for the recital are piano students from the studio of Dr. Michelle Schumann. The concert is free and open to the public.
