The 7th Annual Wildflower Bluegrass Festival sponsored by the Temple Sunrise Rotary Club, has all its activities for family and friends ready for April 25th & 26th. This festival is the Rotary club’s primary fund raiser for the year. Tickets go on sale after April 6th at all Extraco Banks locations.
The festival is held at the Early Day Tractor & Engine Association Showgrounds on Eberhart road in Temple, off of I-35. Take Nugent Rd. to Eberhart and turn right. Signs will be posted.
The Bluegrass Festival has secured the following outstanding Bluegrass bands: Schade Tree, Brazos Country Grass, Blue Creek, New Bluegrass Combination, and County Line. Sam Campbell will operate the sound system. The Music goes from 10 A.M. till 9:00 P.M. on Saturday the 25th.
Also, on Saturday afternoon the Association for Pet Adoption Center (APAC) will have a pet adoption; the Temple Police Department will have their canine unit demonstrating their many skills from 1-3:00 P.M., and Mars Pet Food should have their traveling exhibit.
On both Saturday & Sunday, the 25th & 26th, there will be dog sheep herding competition. The event is sanctioned by the Texas Sheep Dog Association (TSDA) and the United States Border Collie Handlers Association (USBCHA) and will feature about 60 dogs competing over two days for cash prizes, gift awards, and “Dog of the Year”. The dogs will compete at six different levels and their competitions will begin around 9:00 A.M. each day.
B-B-Q brisket, beans, cornbread, potato salad, sausages and all the trimmings, plus drinks will be available all of Saturday, under the pavilion at the showgrounds.
Tickets are $7.00 in advance for adults , with children 12 and under free. At the gate on Saturday, adult tickets will be $10.00.
Persons returning on Sunday for the dog trials will pay $5.00 at the gate.
