Actor Art Carney, who gained fame in the classic TV show "The Honeymooners," has died.

A Connecticut funeral home director says Carney died Sunday at 85, and that services were held Tuesday.

He played Jackie Gleason's buddy Ed Norton in the popular 1950s sitcom. The show was resurrected briefly in 1971.

Gleason once said he "had to work twice as hard" for his laughs because Carney was so funny.

Carney also won the 1974 Oscar for best actor in the movie "Harry and Tonto."
