LONDON (May 28, 2009)--Depeche Mode say its lead singer Dave Gahan has had a malignant tumor removed from his bladder and the British electro-pop group will soon be ready to restart its interrupted tour.

A statement on the group's Web site Thursday said doctors discovered the tumor after Gahan was hospitalized with severe gastroenteritis in May.

The statement says the low-grade malignant tumor has been successfully removed, and doctors have ordered Gahan to rest until June 8.

The group says it will restart its interrupted concert in Leipzig in Germany on that day.

Depeche Mode says concerts scheduled after that including June 10 in Berlin and June 12 in Frankfurt will take place as originally planned as possible.
